On the Cart (Charrette)

October 10, 2008

No posts from me for the last couple of days.  It’s Charrette time.  Charrette is a term we architects use to denote a particularly intense period of design effort.   This usually occurs the last couple of weesk before a deadline, or when there is a mismanagement of the schedule (cough, cough).

If you want a little historical background as to why they call it “Charrette” click HERE. Counter to popular belief it is not called that because there is an art and architecture supply company called Charrette, it is the other way around.

I have a couple of tidbits to offer so stay tuned.  I will be back when I am off the cart.

Charrett Quotes of the Day:

  • Nested Panic (This discribes when we are panicing to get something out, and durring that effort another panic derails us before we can get back to our original panic.  This can repeat ad infinitum.)
  • Failure Mode:  This is a term our client just used to describe the team’s efforts.  It is unclear if he was including himself in the “we”.  We are still trying to decypher what this means exactly
